Kumihimo Cord Necklace, 14k gold
Kumihimo Cord Necklace, 14k gold
Kumihimo means “gathered threads” in Japanese. It’s an age-old craft that employs round looms, operated by hand, to weave pure silk threads into beautiful cord. I've sourced this particular cord from artisans in Japan who are working to carry forward this traditional craft into modern day applications. I specifically sought out these makers because of the fine quality of the silk, and the attention to detail in the weaving process. Because of this, the cord is soft to the touch with minimal stretch. I still recommend to store flat to keep your cord looking its best for years to come.
I’ve added 14k gold open loop end caps (casted as solid pieces) to make this special cord as versatile as possible for the wearer. At 23” long, this cord works as a wonderful long necklace to hold a statement charm, or wrapped a few times around your wrist as a bracelet.
